The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Tbilisi is seeking candidates for the position of: Forensic Genetic Specialist Based in Tbilisi
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is a Geneva-based humanitarian organization that protects and assists victims of armed conflicts and other situations of violence without discrimination. It has been providing humanitarian aid in Georgia for more than 25 years.
Forensic Specialist, serving as the Forensic Genetic Specialist, supports the ICRC Delegation in Tbilisi in its efforts to clarify the fate whereabouts of persons who went missing in connection to the conflicts of the ’90s and 2008 and their aftermath. Under the support and supervision of the Forensic Genetic Centre, s/he will assist on all matters related to forensic genetics and human DNA identification.
Under the supervision of the Genetic Coordinator, the Forensic Genetics Specialist carries out Quality Control and Quality Assurance (QA/QC) of (i) DNA profiles extracted from post-mortem (PM) samples, (ii) DNA profiles of relatives of missing persons and (iii) statistical analysis, kinship scenarios and DNA matches. S/he supports the Genetic Coordinator in creating and implementing the QA/QC strategy and the Forensic Department in ICRC Delegation in Tbilisi with recording, tracking and checking data regarding samples selected/sent/received for DNA analysis and received DNA profiles (STR and mtDNA data).

In such a case, we may transfer* your personal data to the National Red Cross Society of your country of nationality or residence, who will process your application.
If successful, you may then be employed by that National Society and seconded to the ICRC for an assignment to its operations.
