World Vision Georgia (WVG) is pleased to announce an opening for the position of Youth Worker.

Location: Poti, Kutaisi.
Duration: May, 2024 – December 31, 2024
Time frame: Part time (20 hours per week), Monday- Friday

The purpose of the position is:
to carry out Informal Education and Support Services at Peace Road Youth Clubs* set up in schools for youth from host communities and refugee community from Ukraine
to assist the youth through the set-up club activities to learn and strength social skills, improve self-development and increase resilience.

Under this component Peace Road Youth Clubs will be set up in 4 to 5 schools in various locations of Georgia (Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi and Poti), welcoming youth from host communities and refugee youth from Ukraine with the aim to foster integration. Peace Road Model is an integrated approach to empower young people with life skills and to support them to develop the skills, behaviors, and attitudes necessary to participate constructively in their communities. Peace Road (PC) are aimed at youth aged 13 to 18 years who have low educational attainment and represent ethnic, religious minority groups in the community but are interested and motivated to learn new skills and contribute meaningfully to their communities. PC Clubs are groups of about 20 young girls and boys who meet regularly to learn about relevant life skills issues, identify community problems and to brainstorm, plan and implement community service and social and educational projects. The clubs undertake small community projects responding to the community or school needs, elicits greater leadership, project management and business development skills from the youth.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Support schools’ youth clubs as a school based youth worker established by the project to be effective and functional throughout an academic year to ensure active engagement of young people in club activities, and foster development of key competencies of club members through no-formal education approaches.
  • Work with school-based clubs established by the project and jointly by the Project Manager and Youth Coordinator provide ongoing and needs-based activities for school club members in accordance with WV core values, principles and project goals.
  • Assist project coordinator in implementation of planned activities, monitoring, evaluation and community mobilization processes.
  • Get acquainted with WVG operations, approaches, rules and procedures;
  • Get familiarized with Peace Road Model and its approaches;
  • In close coordination with Project team and Project Coordinator identify the most effective ways for youth engagement and implementation of planned activities;
  • Develop partnership with school administration, parents and both communities as well as relevant stakeholders to ensue effective outreach, mobilization and engagement;
  • In coordination with Youth Coordinator organize informational meetings, nonformal activities and other interventions with participation of refugee and local community;
  • Assist youth club members in implementation of small grant to be needs-based and participatory;
  • Support the project in organizing trainings and relevant activities for school based youth club members;
  • Conduct weekly meetings with school club;
  • Help youth club members in self-organization; Lead and facilitate activities enabling youth to learn and strength social skills, improve self-development and increase resilience.
  • Carry out other tasks as assigned by the supervisor;
  • Attend competency development training offered by WVG, Use appropriate methodology and techniques;
  • Support project staff to deliver targeted assistance to the project beneficiaries;
  • Comply with established policies, procedures and regulations within the organization, while completing assignment.

Qualifications and Experience Required:
  • Certified youth professional or proof of working experience in the field of youth work;
  • Experience in similar activities/projects;
  • Experience of work with the vulnerable communities especially children and youth;
  • Basic digital skills (excel, word, PowerPoint) and word processing skills.

  • Full understanding of the vision, mission, and core values of WVI.

Language requirements:
  • Exceptional verbal and written communicational skills, with knowledge of English and Russian (verbal and written).
